Estudiante de doctorado, Departamento de Ingeniería Ambiental
Juan is a chemical engineer graduated at the Slovak University of Technology (STU), where he later obtained his master’s degree focusing on the physic-chemical and biological treatment of effluents and solid residues.
He worked for the automotive industry (VW) in the area of waste management, before starting his doctoral studies in Environmental Chemistry and Technology, at STU.
His research is focused on the anaerobic digestion of non-conventional organic residues with high potential for biogas production. In his work, key issues on waste management and energy recovery from solid residues and industrial effluents are being approached, tackling the inhibition mechanisms that affect the anaerobic process and developing technology to mitigate it.
His research is being carried out in collaboration with a manufacturing industry of amino-acids and antibiotics, as well as the poultry and red-meat industries.
