Itzel Montserrat Lara Mayorga graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana as Industrial Biochemistry Engineer with the highest average of his generation and received the university medal of merit. She continued her academic studies in the same university studying a Specialty in Biotechnology and she graduated with the thesis “Isolation and identification of vinyl acetate consuming bacteria”, obtaining the university medal of merit for the specialty in the O-2007 trimester.
She has a Master in Science with specialty in Biotechnology from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. During her master, she participated in the development of drugs for the pharmaceutical industry and the development of a recombinant vaccine against the influenza virus H1N1 during the pandemic of 2009, graduating in the same year with the thesis: Cultivation techniques of influenza virus H1N1/2009 in MDCK cells.
Her international experience began in 2010 when she was awarded with a scholarship by Fudacion Carolina for studying an Official Master in Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona Spain. University where currently she continues her PhD studies participating in a European project related with neuropathic pain.
During her research work she has published several articles and co-authored a patent. She has multiple participations in national and international meetings. Also she has worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Novartis, Barcelona and MSD, Mexico.
