Description: The facts of international security raised in recent years about terrorist attacks in different parts of the world, including the most shocking fact of the past two decades, extremist acts of September 11, 2001 in New York City, USA, They have led to a significant increase in customs security where there is a constant flow of people, vehicles and goods from one country to another. One line of defense is the international installation of detection systems for nuclear and radioactive material, such as radiation monitors gantry, RPMs, these are a set of gamma detectors for the detection of radioactive material and neutron detectors justified for Special Nuclear Material Detection, SNM, such as plutonium 239Pu, used for building weapons of mass destruction. RPMs currently installed have placed neutron detectors 3He characterized by low background and high detection efficiency, which in the last decade reported a significant shortage, increasing its price and difficult to obtain, so new alternatives are studied to meet said detectors. The scintillation neutron detectors of 10B + ZnS (Ag) are a promising alternative because it meets the requirements to be comparable to 3He detectors of high efficiency, significantly reducing cost and equating the characteristics of the detectors installed , different geometries are studied and RPMs are constructed PVT detectors for detection.
Profit, Social Impact: This project is of great importance to Mexico and the world, since it is obviously important to nuclear safety being an issue that involves every corner of the earth, avoiding problems of nuclear terrorism, this new alternative will keep the show installation of such equipment in most parts of the world.
